Sources of ignition could include, but may not be limited to, open flames; lightning; smoking; cutting and welding; hot surfaces; frictional heat; static, electrical, and mechanical sparks; spontaneous ignition, including heat-producing chemical reactions; and radiant heat. a) On or about November 27, 2017, the employer, Folium Biosciences, LLC., did not ensure open, portable storage containers filled with denatured ethanol and being used as the chemical source for cannabidiol extraction purposes were properly bonded and grounded during transfer activities so as to prevent spontaneous ignition from static electricity. Each portable storage container had a 1000 L capacity and could have caused serious injury to employees from a potential chemical fire. |
